All BELA cases are well researched. We thrive to assist the courts most efficiently and with accurate and comprehensive facts and figures. Since most of our cases are against powerful entities, it is often difficult to get records of violation from the public agencies. After the introduction of the Right to Information Act (RTI) in 2009. BELA has been utilizing the law to apply for official information from concerned agencies. The path however has not been smooth for obvious lack of political will, bureaucratic barriers and the corrupt corporate practices but BELA has been persistent in its efforts in this regard.
Few applications filed by BELA under the RTI along with the status of the application and information received are posted. We hope people interested in the issues will read the documents to learn more about deficiencies in our environmental administration and our struggle in addressing the same.
